The goal of our yoga program is to offer a wide variety of classes to meet the vast differences and challenges and interests of our students. We are proud of the dedication, commitment and quality of our teachers.

Yoga is an age-old art, science and philosophy. Its beauty and power lies its ability to counter the adverse affects of stress on our daily living. From the exploration of postures (asanas) and breathing (pranayama), our innate gifts of mobility and stability are enlivened. The results are physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual connection, stillness, awareness with increased health, focus, and peace.

Free Yoga Class
A once-a-month introductory class to the wonderful world of yoga, and to the Iyengar approach, emphasizing alignment and use of props. Students with no experience and much curiosity are welcome.

Introduction to Iyengar Yoga
Five-Week Course
Designed to take the mystery out of how to move the body with understanding and without pain. Students new to yoga and new to the Iyengar approach learn fundamentals of posture and breath. *Course is a progressive sequence, no drop-ins.

Level I - Beginners
Designed for student who are new to yoga, have completed Foundations Course or those with previous yoga who are new to Iyengar Yoga. This slower-paced class is less rigorous and continues to explore the fundamentals of postures, including beginning inversions and backbends.

Level I/II - Basics
Designed for students who have completed Foundations or have attended Level I and/or want a gradual transition to Level II. Emphasis is on using props with all poses for more refinement and beginning to explore longer times in postures. Modified inversions (headstands and shoulderstands) and backbends are introduced.

Level II
Designed for students with previous Iyengar training. Emphasis is on holding postures longer and exploring them to a deeper level of knowledge and refinement, including inversions (headstands, shoulderstands and plow) and backbends.

Level II/III
Designed for students with previous Iyengar training who are strong in standing poses and can do headstand, shoulderstand and plow with confidence. Ideally students are developing a consistent, self-directed home practice.

Gentle/Chair
A one-hour class designed for new or continuing students who would prefer and/or benefit from a less strenuous approach. This class can help those facing physical challenges improve joint mobility, balance, circulation and confidence by using a chair for more postures.

Restorative
We work the body and mind extremely hard in our lives, and while we may sleep, we rarely take time to rest. Restorative yoga poses help us learn to relax and rest deeply and completely.
Restorative poses are rejuvenating and relaxing supported poses that restore the nervous system and dismantle chronic tension. Using an assortment of yoga props, this class is designed to allow for complete rest, relaxation, and physical and mental restoring.
During deep relaxation, all of the organ systems of the body are benefited.
A few of the measurable results of deep relaxation are improvement in digestion, fertility, elimination, the reduction of muscle tension, insomnia and generalized fatigue.
Come relax, restore, and renew yourself.

GYROKINESIS & GYROTONIC

Do you want the flexibility of a dancer, the energetic awakening of a yogi and perhaps the inner calm and consciousness of a tai chi practitioner, or do you just want to have your body functioning at its maximum capacity in everything you do?

GYROTONIC® EXPANSION SYSTEM® is a methodology of movement created by Hungarian born dancer, Juliu Horvath who refined his experiences and extensive studies to develop this remarkable technique. The fundamentals of the system allow mobilization of the entire body by freeing the joints, stretching the musculature and opening pathways for circulation. The result is an integrative network and a truly balanced body.

This method is designed to utilize the entire body through circular movements encompassing and incorporating all of the systems in the body. With this said, it should be considered not only an excellent exercise program, but a therapeutic method to regenerate, reorganize and allow the body to heal from the inside out. It is a program that produces results by asking the right questions. The reaction of the body can only be as good as the stimulation provided. It is system that gives the body accurate information resulting in appropriate responses.

This exercise program ensures insurmountable benefits to all body types and fitness levels and is as approachable to the elite athlete as it is to the injured senior. The technique provides pure range of motion through an understanding of breathing patterns. This creates awareness, as well as, neurological connections. A session, whether on a stool or machine, specifically guides you to open the body through the seven natural elements of movement in the spine. This, in turn, allows each organism of the body to structurally do what it was anatomically intended to do.

The machine work allows even more intensity through the addition of resistance. The most widely used machine is the Pulley Tower. This striking piece of equipment has a circular handle unit at one end and a pulley system with weights at the other. The machine itself can help create polarity and contrast allowing more openings in the spine, more mobility in the joints and more flexibility in the muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. This leads to more availability for structural rebalancing. Every exercise has a specific manipulation performed by a qualified instructor to guide and help the student into a deeper understanding of each movement’s intention.

Juliu Horvath has, to this point, certified each instructor. There are about 80 Master Trainers in the world and they are responsible for handing down the work to future trainers. There is a thorough educational program that each trainer must obtain to acquire a certification. In addition, all instructors must be updated every two years to ensure that the teaching of this method stays pure and the education cutting edge. The knowledge can only be handed down from teacher to student.

GYROKINESIS® – also referred to as the equipment free format of GYROTONIC® or, at its early inception, yoga for dancers. The methodology of GYROKINESIS® is to follow a consistent discipline of gentle movements that work the joints and muscles through smooth, rhythmic motions. Once completed correctly, the body will feel stimulated and re-energized, improving range of motion and relieving stiffness.

GYROKINESIS® is designed to exercise the entire spine, the foundation for all movement. This total body workout restores power and fluidity to muscles and joints. Its

fully rotational exercises build core and lean muscle strength, while nourishing the body with focused breath work.

Classes begin seated on stools, with the initial focus on the spine and pelvis, followed by shoulders, hips, knees and related musculature, opening pathways to increase mobility, blood flow and oxygenationThe remainder of the class, done on the floor and standing positions, is geared toward sculpting core, arm and shoulder muscles, elevating body temperature for cardiovascular benefit through a series of strength and flexibility exercises targeting the legs, abs, back and neck.
