Gratitude

Semi-borrowing from a line from the movie American Beauty...."What would life be like to feel gratitude for every siblg moment of your life?" So I ask you.....what role does gratitude play in your life?

How aware are you of the blessings in your life?

How often do you stop or pause to say thanks?

How do you feel when you focus on this powerful emotion?

In The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles the following appears: "The whole process of mental adjustment and attunement can be summed up in one word: gratitude." Wattles goes on to say...First you believe that there is one intelligent substance from which all things proceed, Secondly, you believe that this substance gives you everything you desire. And thirdly, you relate yourself to it through a feeling of deep and profound gratitude. The nearer we live to the source of ALL that fills our life, the more of whatever we desire....we shall receive.

Gratitude brings your entire being into harmony with the creative energies of the universe. If your gratitude is strong and continuous, the movement of all things you want will always be towards you. Gratitude is what keeps you connected to the power of YOU.

What is gratitude?
Gratitude is continually being focused upon the best that life has to offer. Gratitude is having an expectation of only the best. Gratitude is continually giving thanks for all things that come to you. And because all things have contributed to your advancement...say thanks for EVERYTHING! The person who can sincerely say thanks for all things including the dreams, goals, wants, and desires that currently only exist in our imagination is the person that has real faith.

FAITH IS BORN OF GRATITUDE.

I think we all realize how important it is to belive both in ourselves and the abundance of the universe. If we didn't have faith in ourselves and our abilities or....If we didn't have faith that the universe is a friendly place....There wouldn't be a tremendous motivation to get up each day to take the risks necessary to pursue our greatest dreams and desires. Faith is what allows us overcome obstacles namely our fears, when a clear path doesn't exist.

And GRATITUDE is the bridge between FEAR and FAITH.

WHAT WE FOCUS ON...........IS WHAT WE CREATE IN OUR LIFE.

When we shift our focus from fear to feelings of gratitude, we begin the process of building FAITH. Once again, gratitude is the seed our of which faith arises. GRATITUDE leads us out of fear and into POSITIVE POSSIBILITY!!

Back to our original question....."What would it be like to feel gratitude for every single moment of your life?"

ANSWER: A life fueled by VISION, PURPOSE, and FAITH

Gratitude is the force that unhooks us from our fears and sligns us with our Highest Powers, Thoughts, and Actions. Focus on all of your blessings and the many blessings of those around you. AND....if you haven't done so already....Commit to unleashing the power of gratitude into EVERY SINGLE MOMENT OF YOUR LIFE!! I promise.....YOUR LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!!

Make today an exceptional day,

Dr. Bob L. Wertz

I gotta tell you, I slept like a baby last night.  I don't think I moved all night.  It was very peaceful.  Thank you for all you do to bring us the art of yoga and friendship.

Thank you for class last night.  I have been breathing in Mother Earth's exhale and vice versa all day.  I am going to have to work on the baby stage though!  It's really awesome to have more of a connection to the planet and an awareness that I haven't had before.  It's life changing.
Have a great night,
Suzanne

Hi Kandy,
I wanted to give you some feedback from a newbee yoga gal.
My husband and I attended the last "Beginner's" class (however we missed the 5th session due to an injury of my husband's right shoulder).
Initially we went to the free class that you were kind enough to give us with the chair.
When we arrived at our first "Beginner's" class, we were initially disappointed because you were not going to be our instructor and we were so pleased with you.  However, at the first ten minutes of class, we found we truly enjoyed Susan as much as we enjoyed your instructions.  Both of you are just lovely people and make people "want" to do yoga.  Susan was great throughout the entire class.  She's terrific!
Today we were able to attend the "Gentle" session of yoga this morning with K.T.  She is also very lovely.  This gentle yoga class is exactly what I'm looking for.  I need the gentle stretching of my muscles, until I become more limber and lose additional weight.  K.T. is just as lovely as Susan and you are and I think this is so important.  You have a wonderful staff.
Your receptionist handled the signing up of our next 5 sessions, which will be in the gentle yoga class and she was also very cooperative and helpful.  These people who help you, make Health and Harmony what it is for your patrons.
I want to thank you and tell you how much I appreciate Health and Harmony and everything and everyone it offers.

Namaste,
Gail McCrate

Hello,

Thank you for participating in the 2008 Lee County Employee Health Fair. Your participation contributed to a very successful event. Although we had a slightly lower turnout this year (226 employees) compared to last year, I have heard positive feedback from the employees who participated. Employees appreciated the variety of information available to them and found the information very helpful. I would also like to thank those of you who donated a gift for our raffle – this went over extremely well!

Thanks again for giving your time and energy to promote healthy lifestyles among Lee County employees. It was wonderful seeing you all and I look forward to working with you again next year!

Integrated Awareness® Testimonials

May 21, 2007

Good morning Kandy - just wanted to take a minute to thank you. After suffering with vertigo for five months, I have not been bothered since my last appointment with you on March 28. For five months I struggled with the room spinning every time I moved my head in certain positions. The nausea was intense, I feared every time I rolled over in bed, or bent over to pick up something. I developed a stiff, sore neck from trying to always keep my head in one position. I tried my family doctor, a chiropractor, regular massage, visualization, deep breathing techniques. While reading the Natural Awakenings magazine, I came across the ad for Health and Harmony and noticed that you offer cranial sacral massage and thought "why not"?

On my first appointment, when we sat in your office, you asked me many questions about my childhood and also my present life. I noticed you observing how I was sitting, my body language. I admit I wasn't sure what my early childhood had to do with the vertigo, but I was open and willing. I expected that I would jump up on the massage table and that you would manipulate my neck and head. That was a small part of the healing process, I know that now.

Starting at my feet and working up my body, asking questions all the time, you comforted me. I felt safe and secure at all times. I felt that I had been led to you and that this was were I belonged. Before leaving your office I scheduled another appointment for later that week.

When I got home my movements were tentative, but of course I wanted to "test" myself. I found that I could put my head in any position except rolling it to the left! Wow! I could hardly wait 5 days until I experienced the treatment again. The treatment which I soon learned was called Integrated Awareness.

That appointment on March 28 would be the last time I could see you as I am a snow bird and would be leaving the next week. We did much of the same work that time and I have been vertigo free since then. I simply cannot thank you enough. I had just about decided that I would live with vertigo the rest of my life! It's so absolutely wonderful to be able to move without fear of spinning. Thank you for caring and for sharing your gift. I would recommend that anyone who is suffering be open to seeing you and experiencing IA.

Many blessings,
Paula Floyd

June 29, 2007

Well, that was just wonderful. I feel great. I decide today to schedule another one. I had no idea what to expect. I knew that you'd been studying Integrated Awareness because you mentioned it in newsletters, and people mentioned that you were out of town studying, but I really didn't know what it was.
But the experience was excellent. The kink in my shoulder that I'd been tennis-balling went away completely. I am not sure what will happen with the little ball in my throat, but it will be interesting to find out. She (Sondra) is certainly a lovely woman, very kind.
Thanks for recommending the procedure. Boy, I feel just great. I feel strong and I had a good time.

Thanks again,
Celia

Dear Kandy,

I don't know where to begin to thank you for all that you have done for me. Thank you for the amazing IA experience. Since then, I've been more aware of my body and emotions. It's like waking up after a long sleep!

Thank you for the experience of "Food as Medicine." It was an interesting day and I got some great ideas for healthy quick cooking.

Most of all, thank you for your generosity of time and information. I enjoyed our meeting and I hope to work with you again!

Massage Testimonials

Aug. 10, 2007

Hi Kandy...

I so enjoyed being with all of you in your studio today. Scott Helm's massage and cranial work was the best I've ever had. He didn't just push hard on muscles as some therapists do. He deliberately and skillfully worked on the subtle body and energy which made all of the difference. He is obviously a well trained, well educated and gifted healer. My sincere thanks to him for giving me much needed relief today.

Dear Kandy & Scott,
Thank you for participating in this two-day, fun-filled event. We greatly appreciate your help in making our benefit fair a success. Many of our employees are new to the area and this fair is one way of informing our employees about services available to them in Lee and Collier counties.

Thank you for your donation for our employee drawing. We are so glad you could support us again this year. I have enclosed a list of donations and winners for your enjoyment. THANK YOU!

Thanks, Kandy. I was just thinking about you as I was doing my practice. I am enjoying my backbender and Buddha that I bought while with you last week. Truly, Scott worked wonders with my head and neck and shoulders. I am still pain free for the first time in four months! Please pass the word to him. I am using the still point inducer that I got from you as well.

Best Regards,
Shelley Starbuck

Dear Kandy,

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your participation in the Department of Nursing's Complimentary Health Care Course. As you can see from the very positive responses on the students' reaction papers, presented to you comprehensively in the Guest Speaker Comments, your parcipitation, practice and knowledge is invaluable to them in their personal/professional development.

Again, I thank you not only for the time and effort needed for the actual presentation, but for your spirit, energy, and commitment to your particular piece of the complimentary health care pie. Let us congratulate ourselves for our pioneer efforts, and for the ability to challenge others see beyond traditional approaches.

Guest Speakers Comments For: Kandy Love, LMT

Complimentary Health Care Practices
Summer 1998

“It was fascinating to participate in all of the movements of yoga.  I felt very relaxed and at peace with everything around me.  It was a very calm and soothing experience.  There are so many positive outcomes with this alternative practice.”

“She is truly a pretzel.  I can’t believe how connected she is with her body.  And in turn how connected to the earth she is with all of us.  I loved this class, I found several techniques to use in order to relax some of the tension out of my body!  I find that I now pay more attention to my body and how it feels.  I definitely want to learn more about this and share it with others.”

“I think yoga is great.  This is something that I have always wanted to try, but something has always been in my way.  The gym I go to now has a yoga program, but there is an added fee on top of the membership to participate.  There are books and tapes on yoga, but I like learning by watching.  I am more motivated to do something if I have to go somewhere.  I am sure that in the future I will be more involved with yoga.  I would highly recommend anyone to try yoga and to take me along.  I like the way yoga moves the body and I’m sure it feels great.  I believe that it is very relaxing and “blissful.”  I loved watching Kandy go through her movements, I am envious of her flexibility and control.  I would tell patients that they should not be afraid to try it.  You do not have to start at the level that Kandy is at.  Yoga is for all types of bodies and if you are consistent enough perhaps you might reach that level some day.”

“I really enjoyed tonight’s class.  The yoga and Thai massage portions of the class was not only interesting but also very therapeutic.  Fortunately, I had a little shoulder massage demonstrated on me which came in very handy since I had hurt my right shoulder from over doing it at an aerobics class.  To be honest I did not expect to enjoy yoga tonight because of one negative experience I had with yoga a couple of years ago.  I made the mistake of going with a friend to an intermediate yoga class.  Needless to say, I was overwhelmed and very confused.  However, tonight, I got a whole different picture of yoga.  It is not as “far out there” as I had thought.  Kandy came out with some basic yet realistic ideas.  If time and money permit I think I would like to give yoga another try and for that I thank Kandy.  Additionally, Kandy is by far the most flexible person I have ever seen!”

“Last week we were treated to a wonderful look at yoga and Thai massage with Kandy Love and Joni Bader.  Yoga is a union, therefore harmony and balance, then peace of mind, and lastly bliss.  Our bodies are physical, emotional, mental and environmental.  When we are united, we are connected in health and beauty.  A simple review of the 6 positions was humbling.  This is a simple basic function of sitting, standing, bending, twisting, inverting and lying down.  As nurses this can specifically be important to our lives, our day.”

“Last week’s class was empowering.  I absolutely loved Kandy Love’s yoga demonstration.  I find myself in many situations that really frustrate me and the first thing I try to do is think about this class and all the wonderful techniques that we have discussed and learned.  I can’t think of any other methods I would like to practice more than yoga, Tai Chi, and Chi King to harmonize my mental, physical, my inner and outer self with my environment and universe.  There is nothing that I desire most than achieving peace within my own mind and body.  It is so simple yet so complex.  I guess we really need to go back to the basic pleasure of life.”

“The class this week was very light and appealing, really concentrating on what you can do for yourself.  I enjoyed listening and participating in yoga as well as Thai massage.  In the future I plan on taking part in a yoga class for beginners to start out with.”

“I really enjoyed and was inspired by Kandy’s knowledge she bestowed about the students about yoga.  I know that yoga is natural, what I did not know is that yoga is centuries old and a science of physical movement, body positions, and breathing technique.”

“Class began today with Kandy discussing yoga (union) and its application to life as a healing art.  After a walk through simple techniques, she did a demonstration of some yoga technique.  The comment was made that we forgot how beautiful the body is while we are focused on disease and deformity.  This statement, coupled with demonstration moved me tremendously.  It was kind of ironic, because I was thinking the same thing as I watched her move.  How in tune she is with her body, and the planet as a whole, and what a beautiful light “health” shines.”

I have never been in another class where I have learned, experienced and absorbed so many things.  I truly believe that without this class many of us would be incomplete as health care professionals.  We have also been able to realize how we are, how we deal with issues, how we would like to be, and how to achieve it.”

Kandy Love spoke on and demonstrated yoga.  This is the foundation of my personal health care practices and Kandy was great.  Yoga encompasses so many of the other techniques we learned about in this course.  It’s kind of the whole ball of wax.”

“Kandy’s discussion on yoga was very beneficial to my experiences in this class.  Now that my body has slowed a bit, it seems to be time for exploration into this medium for mind and body balance.  Yoga appears to be the perfect exercise for the injuries that this body has sustained.  I am sure that it will be a perfect fit for me.  Where will I fit it into my schedule?  I must make time.  Here are a couple pearls of wisdom that I will carry with me after that class.  The first is that “we tend to live about the neck.”  The second is “feet, knees, shoulder blades and breath.”  There were others but these stand out the most.  It does bring me into the now!!!”

“Her demonstrations were impressive and a meaningful way to separate pain from our bodies.”

“As Jeanette told class tonight that there will be no alternative therapy that will interest you, and get you on the “alternative medicine road,” I agreed.  For me, it was the lecture on yoga.  I’ve always heard about yoga, but for some reason, it is really interesting to me now.  I told a co-worker, another nurse, how I am thinking about trying yoga.  I thought that she would think that I was crazy.”

“This class was quite interesting, I read up on yoga and found it very therapeutic and relaxing with dealing with stressors.”
